Isaiah Rohan Symons: Awesomeness Turns One! [6-9-2015]

When one of your closest and dearest friends have a Son, you know things are going to get fun for you! I can't speak for everyone but some deeply-buried paternal instinct goes haywire and I want to spoil him, teach him how to play the guitar (as his father taught me my first chords many years ago), teach him how to appreciate girls, take him out for food in the middle of the night, how to piss off his dad, etc.

Isaiah Rohan Symons' First Year in this Big, Bad, World was celebrated last Sunday, 6th September 2015. It was a simple but close-knit affair, and armed with my trusty (soon to be upgraded) sidekick, I took  a few photos of the event. Nothing professional, considering my busted 580EXII, but still good. Besides the awesome superhero theme, and the superhero gift packs, one of the cute concepts present that day was a time capsule of sorts, where guests may write a simple message on paper to Isaiah, which will only be opened on his 18th.

I hope that Isaiah one day sees these photos and never forgets how much his friends and family love him.

I want my own kid too.

Isaiah Rohan Symons: There Goes The Neighbourhood

I have not posted any pictures for an entire year now. Something to do with loss of inspiration or something like that. However, as the saying goes, you can't keep a good man down. My roller-coaster personal life is settling down of late and I am able to now focus on some of the loves of my life.

My inspiration came out of the blue in a delightfully small package. Meet Isaiah Rohan Symons, the son of my closest friend. He's almost reached the 1 year mark and he's appears to be growing everyday. He is amazing and testament to God's work here on earth. The only thing that befuddles me is how something like this came from Calvin's loins. I expected the Cookie Monster or something like that.

Anyways, I was over the other week and decided to bring my camera because I have yet to effectively shoot it. Editing and preparing these pictures, there was sense of euphoria lacking in me for a long time now. Thank you Isaiah, for your adorable inspiration to get back on the photography horse.

Random Orchid Farm in Rawang [29-7-2014]

I haven't shot many photographs in a while now, save the odd shoot or two. I guess you can say my enthusiasm has waned somewhat due to some recent personal difficulties. Hopefully all that will change very soon.

One of the stepping stones of getting myself out of this funk is casual shooting, tourist shots to some. I recently took a day trip to Sekinchan. Partly to get out of the house, partly to regain some semblance of sanity. On the awful, rural, winding trunk roads to Sekinchan somewhere in Rawang (I think), I came across this lovely gem of a place - an Orchid Farm of sorts. They specialise in... wait for it, Orchids.

There was a very knowledgeable old lady there, taking the time to slowly and sweetly explain how to care for and grow orchids. I forgot to take her picture though, which I regret. Who knew there were so many different kinds of orchids. Crazy variety! These vibrant and beautiful flowers make photography so easy for anyone. Now everyone can be a professional photographer with an entry-level DSLR!

For any of you who are interested to check out this place just outside of KL, here is the business card I got from them:-

Mind you, I didn't actually meet this Eric Kok guy. I'm merely assuming he exists. For those of you who can't read upside-down (apparently smarter people can - it's science), the other half of this foldable business card reads as follows:-

- Orchids
- Fresh cut orchids
- Landscaping
- Orchid plant rental
- Orchid plant & flower arrangement

So there you go. If you ever do decide to drop by this place, do mention my name and this photo-blog, and watch the person in-charge go all confused.
