Random Orchid Farm in Rawang [29-7-2014]

I haven't shot many photographs in a while now, save the odd shoot or two. I guess you can say my enthusiasm has waned somewhat due to some recent personal difficulties. Hopefully all that will change very soon.

One of the stepping stones of getting myself out of this funk is casual shooting, tourist shots to some. I recently took a day trip to Sekinchan. Partly to get out of the house, partly to regain some semblance of sanity. On the awful, rural, winding trunk roads to Sekinchan somewhere in Rawang (I think), I came across this lovely gem of a place - an Orchid Farm of sorts. They specialise in... wait for it, Orchids.

There was a very knowledgeable old lady there, taking the time to slowly and sweetly explain how to care for and grow orchids. I forgot to take her picture though, which I regret. Who knew there were so many different kinds of orchids. Crazy variety! These vibrant and beautiful flowers make photography so easy for anyone. Now everyone can be a professional photographer with an entry-level DSLR!

For any of you who are interested to check out this place just outside of KL, here is the business card I got from them:-

Mind you, I didn't actually meet this Eric Kok guy. I'm merely assuming he exists. For those of you who can't read upside-down (apparently smarter people can - it's science), the other half of this foldable business card reads as follows:-

- Orchids
- Fresh cut orchids
- Landscaping
- Orchid plant rental
- Orchid plant & flower arrangement

So there you go. If you ever do decide to drop by this place, do mention my name and this photo-blog, and watch the person in-charge go all confused.

Happy Second Birthday Aqeef! [23-3-2014]

Congratulations to Azrizal & Mariam for raising an absolutely lovely young man in little Aqeef. Azrizal and myself go a ways back. We first met in the salsa scene, and I attended his wedding with the lovely Mariam. That was the first time I met his amazing family and extended family. Fast forward another year, and I'm taking photos of Mariam's Baby Shower. Fast forward another two years, and here I am.

Thank you Rizal for remembering me. I'm glad your family has accepted me somewhat as a family friend and I'm happy to be able to document the growth of your lovely family in a way I know best!

Here are some pictures of Aqeef's poolside birthday party. Rizal and family spared no details whatsoever to bring a true Sesame Street themed party, complete with clowns, chocolate fondue and lots of water!

Enjoy!
