Happily Ever After: Ruben & Yvonne - Part 1: Of Heng Tai & Chi Mui [15-1-2011]

Let the games begin!

Holy cow, it was like, yesterday that I met these guys. Now they're getting hitched. Mr. Ruben was nice enough to ask me to shoot his marriage registration a couple of months back, and now, he asked me to follow-up with the 'games' and ceremony taking place on the morning of the 15th of January 2011. In Ingo's own words, we are going to, "snatch the Bride". Then snatch we shall.

The process requires no introduction. The Groom, aided by his 'brothers' or heng tai endevour to 'acquire' his Bride, who coincidentally is being protected by her 'sisters' or chi mui. They will most likely be holed up in their hen-fortress somewhere and the boys will have to break in. I will attempt, once again, to document this curious ritual by way of pictures.

My humble presence has been requested at Ruben's house on the morning of the 15th at 7.30am. What sorcery is to take place at such an un-Godly hour? And I have also been told that the theme for that morning would be "The Transporter". I'm not particularly sure if I should dress in a black tie and suit, complete with a buff bod, a hairy chest and receding hairline - or should I put an Intrakota uniform on...

Havana Estudio Monthly Social: New Years Eve Bash!

Once again, Sam & Aisha did not fail to deliver. God bless them both.

For those, such as I, who refuse to get in that whole mess of traffic jams and crowds and other nonsense, just for New Year's Eve celebrations, we salseros have another alternative. While last year, Paradiso had an NYE bash, this year they decided to remain closed. That left a pretty good void to fill in by salsa's Dynamic Duo, Sam & Aisha.

Granted that it was not as packed as always, but the crowd present at Havana Estudio that NYE was still amazing. Aisha and Su would greet us with their warm smiles (and Aisha looked radiant what with her pregnancy!) and Sam would be spinning delicious tunes. We still had our various assortment of pizza and softies. Best of all, we had all the good company enjoying good times together.

Oh, there was one more thing. The loving Gary planned a surprise birthday party for his dear Jo-Ann on that night itself. Once again, I did not take as many photos as I should have. But I do have a few nice ones... Happy Birthday Jo-Ann! I hope you like the few shots I managed to take!

I actually did not take that many pics that night. Not too sure why. I mostly danced but here are a few of the nicer ones. I hope they're ok. Have a look-see and tell me what you think. Cheers and Gawd bless!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011!!

For all and sundry following my humble photoblog since July/August 2010, I thank and salute you! For all those who supported me with your compliments, your criticisms and your love, I am grateful! For some of you who came, saw, liked what you saw, and decided to hire me, I am honored!

The new year did not actually bring many pictures as of yet. I have several photosets but have not been posting anything. I attribute this to a spot of writer's (or photographer's?) block I think. Anyways, January itself brings up a fairly exciting line-up of events:-

(a) Ruben & Yvonne's wedding on the 15th (I'm not sure if he wants me to do the dinner but I'll be there in the morning);

(b) Thaipusam on the 20th (I've got something particularly special planned for this one. Keep tuned-in for more);

(c) A good buddy, Raj's fitness event, UNLEASED 2011 on 22nd to be held at Bukit Jalil Stadium (thanks Raj!); and

(d) Havana Estudio January Monthly Social: First of Many...

In addition to the above, I've also got a few pictures of the Christmas open house that took place in.... wait for it.... my house, on 15th December 2010.

Of course we can't forget the extremely popular Havana Estudio monthly social, which was to take place on the last Saturday of December 2010 if not for the fact that the same day was Christmas Day. Therefore the social was shifted to the following FRIDAY, 31st DECEMBER 2010. You can guess the pandemonium that followed.

It's going to be a busy First Half but It seems that the new year is starting out pretty well already...
